Title
Alligator tank (LVT4 Landing Vehicle)
Subject
United States Marine corps
Description
Designed originally as a vehicle used to help retrieve hurricane victims from flooded areas the LVT4 Landing vehicle became a staple in USMC tactics and logistics. The ship was modified to have more armor and tracks in order to bring Marines closer to the enemy and keep them protected. Eventually the transport’s ships role was switched to a frontline troop carrier and tank and most frontline models were equipped with machine guns or a flamethrower.
